HD in High Speed
So what is HDTV?
High-Definition Television is the highest quality form of digital broadcasting. It offers the clearest, cleanest, and sharpest images available. HDTV broadcasts send larger amounts of data than standard Digital Television (DTV) and analog broadcasts. Not all HD is the same. Even within High Definition broadcasting there are different levels of quality, mainly referring to the number of frames per second and pixels in the screen. FTTH’s fiber delivers all HD signals, including 1080p – the best in HD quality.
Not all televisions are able to receive HD signals; you must have an HD-enabled television. (Note: not all Digital Televisions are HD enabled). However, HD is becoming a common feature in many new televisions sold today. Best Buy said that 80% of televisions they sell this year will be HD-enabled.
DTV
DTV stands for Digital Television, which is a new type of broadcasting technology. It is the largest advancement in the history of television. On February 19, 2009, all full-power broadcasters will convert their programming to DTV. It will be possible to continue receiving broadcasting with an analog TV and antenna, you will simply need to purchase a set-top converter. Televisions receiving FTTH’s all-digital programming will not need to be updated, nor will you need to purchase additional converters.
